Megan Welker is a classical trained soprano originally from the sunny hills of Austin, Texas
Megan specializes in new music, appearing as She in Johnathan Sheffer’s Camera Obscura with Boston Opera Collaborative as well as Mother in Mark Adamo’s Avow. While at Northwestern she created the role of Christine Reagan in the world stage premier of Regan’s Children by Chicago composer Eric Reda, as well as the role of Lucinda Parker in the premier of Quannah by country legend Larry Gatlin. She has brought to life Lucy in OperaHub’s remastered Der Vampyr, and can be found singing with Boston’s Opera on Tap Organization.
Past performance include Maestro Lorin Maazel’s productions of L'enfant et les sortilèges, Il Tabarro and La Boheme at the Chateauville Foundation’s Castleton Festival. She was first runner up in the American Prize Competition, a finalist in the Coeur d’Alene Symphony Young Artist Program, and an award winning performer at Chicago’s Bel Canto Institute.
